The Interact Club of Visakha Vidyalaya proudly presented an extravaganza of stupendous dance moves & melodious vocals glamorizing the stage of Jeramias Dias Hall, Visakha Vidyalaya with the commencement of the grand finale of 'The Stage is Yours- Light it Up 2017’ on the 19th of May 2017 from 6.30pm onwards.
The Interact Club of Visakha Vidyalaya proudly presented an extravaganza of stupendous dance moves & melodious vocals glamorizing the stage of Jeramias Dias Hall, Visakha Vidyalaya with the commencement of the grand finale of 'The Stage is Yours- Light it Up 2017’ on the 19th of May 2017 from 6.30pm onwards.
The concert which is Visakha Vidyalaya’s Main Financial Project of the Year 2016/17, held its auditions on the 22nd of April 2017 letting the Jeramias Dias Hall flood with young upcoming artists whose sole aim was to become the crowned winner of ‘Light it Up 2017’.
After a day filled with numerous auditions and much hustle, the finalists of each category were selected. The bands Tyrants and Classical gas, the duo Sayuni Joseph and Suvi Maliyadde and Solo artists Lakshan Wijesooriya, Abishek Navodh, Channuka Devindu and Devin Dangolle made it to the finals with their outstanding tuned voices. By mastering the toes to an excellently choreographed dance routine, Nivandee Samarasekara & Anudi Liyanagunawardena, Senuri Basnayake & Lakinduni Hansika and Ishanka De Silva succeed to become the finalists of the Dancing category.
The grand finale featured the famous duo Bathiya and Santhush who captivated the arena with their soul soothing singles. The night was also illuminated by a spectrum of our favourite artists Tharushi and Nithila, Bädinga and the Coco Band as guest performers. After the finalists who made it to the giant stage, exhibited their supreme talents of dance and singing, the grand winners of 'Light It Up'17' were revealed. Accordingly, Abishek Navodh of Asia Grammar School along with Nivandee Samarasekara & Anudi Liyanagunawardena of Visakha Vidyalaya became the Winners of the Singing and Dancing categories respectively. The runners up trophy for singing was won by Devin Dangolle of Royal College while Ishanka De Silva of Lyceum International School became the runners up in dancing.
As the final contestants made the Stage their own, the musical evening of song and dance concluded lighting up the arena and entertaining the crowd to the zenith.
