Silhouettes '18 - The 22nd Annual Night Camp of the Astronomical Society of Visakha Vidyalaya

Visakha Vidyalaya explored beyond the silhouettes on the 12th of February 2018 at the 'SILHOUETTES' 18' which was held at the school premises from 6pm onwards. The 22nd night camp was organized by the Visakha Vidyalaya Astronomical Society(VVAS) along with the aid of the Old Visakhian Astronomical Society and the S&T group, and the members of VVAS were given a chance to prepare and launch water rockets at the camp.

Prof. Chandana Jayarathna who is the Professor in Physics, Department of Physics at University of Colombo and also the Consultant to the Space Science Division of Arthur C. Clarke Institute for Modern Technologies, Katubedda, Moratuwa, graced the eve with his presence as the chief guest of Silhouettes'18. The Professor enlightened the young scholars about astro bodies and gave a scope of the latest astronomical discoveries which are made day by day by astronomical experts worldwide.

The young astronomy enthusiasts spent a sophisticated evening exploring the skies through lectures and observation (celestial objects) for astronomy compels the soul to look upward, and leads us from this world to another.
