Pooja Shanthi 18 Sanniya by the Student Parliament of Visakha Vidyalaya

Visakha Vidyalaya, Colombo reached her grand centenary in January this year, and yes this is no news to anyone anymore due to the numerous events organized and held by the School OGA celebrating this memorable occasion.
To cross off another one in the list of celebrations all year through, the student parliament of the school has taken the initiative of organizing the traditional Sinhalese exorcism ritual ‘Dahaata Sanniya’ with the sole purpose of seeking protection to the school from any evil spirits or negative forces and to bring upon the blessings of all good for a rewarding and a successful journey ahead.The occasion was named “Shanthi Pooja” and was a joint collaboration of the Ministry of Religious and Cultural affairs and the Ministry of Physical and Disaster Management. The ritual that kicked off at 5.00 pm on the 14th of January 2017 at the school grounds, went until the dawn of the following day and all the many viewers had a memorable time all night long for such traditional rituals are not very common now-a-days even in Sri-Lanka.
