Visakha Vidyalaya Pirith Ceremony 2017

The school began it's religious ceremony on the evening of 25th of March 2017 with a Bodhi Puja. Visakhians of all grades gathered with flower blossoms and other offerings. The school was illuminated by the lighted lamps and sented by the enchanting fragrance of burnt incenses. The Bodhi Pooja concluded to commence the Pirith Chantings. Soothing the hearts of the Buddhist damsels the chanting went on till the dawn of the following day. Visakha Vidyalaya concluded the religious ceremony by offering Dana and Pirikara to the venerable monks. The two day ceremony was splendidly organized by the students, administration staff and the parents of Visakha Vidyalaya with much devotion and respect.
Visakha Vidyalaya glamored our annual calendar with its marvelling centenary celebrations which took the dates from sports festivals, centenary walks to extravagant carnivals. Being a school highly profound with Buddhist morals and principles, celebrations were never complete for the Visakhians without receiving the blessings of the Triple Gem.

Visakha Vidyalaya which was primarily initiated as Buddhist Girls College by Mrs Celestina Dias, has undoubtedly upheld the founder's religious ambitions towards the school throughout its glorious 100 years.
