Eclipse 2016 – Jeremias Dias Challenge Trophy, organized by the Astronomical Society of Visakha Vidyalaya, was held on the 29th of March at the Jeremias Dias Hall from 2.00 pm onwards. An event truly out of this world, Eclipse took the form of a quiz competition, hosting teams from highly regarded schools in Sri Lanka. The Chief Guest of the day was none other than the Director General of the Arthur C. Clarke Institute for Modern Technologies, Eng. Sanath Panawennage. A pioneer in his chosen field, Mr. Panawennage brought onboard limitless knowledge and expertise to the room.

The competition proved tough. However, it was De Mazenod College, Kandana who bagged the prestigious trophy, leaving Nalanda College, Colombo 10 in second place.
Prior to Eclipse 2016, The Astronomical Society of Visakha Vidyalaya together with the Astronomical Society of Nalanda College jointly organized Ancerchomena Asteria, an annual night camp. This was held on the 15th of January from 7.00 pm – 6.00 am the following day at Visakha Vidyalaya, Colombo 5.
The competition proved tough. However, it was De Mazenod College, Kandana who bagged the prestigious trophy, leaving Nalanda College, Colombo 10 in second place.
