From 7:30pm onwards, Candide by Scott Hunter & Voltaire took by a storm, which was directed by Chalana Wijesuriya. The characters introduced were Cunegonde – the ingénue, who’s faithful to Candide unless there’s reasonably large sums of money are involved. And then we got Cacambo – Candides trusty servant who’s holding a secret that he’s unaware of, to Dr. Pangloss – the philosopher, sophisticated, happy and confident. Along with the old woman with no name and Paquette, the characters that brought more flair and glare into the shows! It was truly a night to remember and left the audience content and in high spirits.
