Carnival through Languages is a novel concept introduced to Sri Lankan education system by Pushpadana Girls' College. This innovative idea was from Mrs. Anoma Senevirathne, former lecturer of National College of Education, Peradeniya & presently the coordinator of the teacher training program - Gateway Graduate School, Kandy.
This idea was first materialized with English teachers together with the teachers & students of the other different departments of the college, on the 13th September 2012 and it was made a stunning reality. By the very sense of the word it was a carnival indeed through language.
Therefore the Language Department decided to hold this program this year too for the second time. It held on 18th September 2013 from 8.30 a.m. onwards in the college premises. There were stalls put up by different languages taught at school viz Sinhala, Tamil, Hindi, Japanese, French & English. The aim was to provide entertainment through languages as well as to give an opportunity to the students to get an exposure to different languages taught at school.
Mr. Natarajan, the Asst. High Commissioner of India participated as the Chief Guest.
The entire college premises took the form of a carnival with activities of different nature; dances, a procession, language stalls and food stalls and open air cafeterias.
