The educationalist who molded thousands of disciplined steadfast women from Musaeus College, Principal Stella Dandeniya marked her farewell to 50years of inimitable service on the 28th of April 2017.
The educationalist who molded thousands of disciplined steadfast women from Musaeus College, Principal Stella Dandeniya marked her farewell to 50years of inimitable service on the 28th of April 2017.
Placing her foremost first step into the service of education on 10th May 1966 as a young graduate teacher from University of Peradeniya, she became one of the most dedicated and appreciated staff members. Her incredible rise to the crest passing all ranks of the school hierarchy is an ample testimony for her lively contribution of five decades. From a fifteen year service as a young graduate teacher, Mrs. Sella Dandeniya was promoted as the Grade Supervisor to Advanced Level Arts and Commerce streams in 1981. She progressed to Vice Principal then to Deputy Principal by 2008 and achieved the high chair in 2009 as the 15th Principal of the prestigious Musaeus College, Colombo.
Passing every bit of her knowledge to the young, Mrs. Dandeniya was able to uplift the education of the school, resulting the Musaeites to score high ranks. A strict disciplinarian was she, but interacted much with students and stuff, becoming a friend to all at tension situations and a mother at school to especially the homesick hostellers. Madam Dandeniya who believed that academic qualifications solely did not flourish a young girl's future, promoted extra-curricular activities of sports and aesthetic creation within the Musaeites. Herself being an ardent dancer, singer, dramatist and an orator contributed immensely to the school's cultural and aesthetic development.
She was a lover of sports who greatly encouraged the students to excel to the finest in all games. Her continuous support to uplift Sports within Musaeus College by providing the most skilled couches and the best equipments and surrounding succeeded the school in reach higher peaks. Mrs.Dandeniya took the forefront in making women's sport history in Sri Lanka by organizing the Visakha - Musaeus first Annual Cricket Encounter, which was held early this year.
It can be assured that Mrs. Sella Dandeniya's service of 50 years fulfilled the words of the Great Leader Abraham Lincoln “Let us have faith that right makes might, and in that faith let us to the end dare to do our duty as we understand itâ€, placing her among the greatest educational leaders of Musaeus College and the country. As the most senior and longest serving staff member of Musaeus College take her leave, Xtream Youth offers our highest gratitude for your transcendent educational service. It has been a great privilege working with you and the company wishes you a joyous retirement and a healthy long life.
