Musaeus College held the Annual Arts Day for the year 2018, 'Dvaara 2018' at the school auditorium on the 18th of May 2018 from 2.30pm onwards.
The event was graced by the presence of the renowned Sri Lankan writer Bandula Nanayakkarawasam. The students studying in the stream of Arts organized the event splendidly with the support of the academic staff and the guidance of Madam Nelum Senadira, the Principal of Musaeus College.
Mente Infinita 2018, the Science Day of Musaeus College took place on the 14th of June 2018 from 2pm onwards at the school auditorium. The Science Day focused on granting its prime concern on Mental Health and the endless human mind.
To enlighten the students on mental health, an adept on the subject of mental well being was invited as the Chief Guest of Mente Infinita 2018. Dr. Jayan Mendis who is a renowned consultant psychiatrist in the country is the Founder Director of the National Institute of Mental Health. He who began his career as a young intern doctor at the Angoda Mental hospital in 1986, embarked on an honourable mission of single handedly transforming the old Angoda Mental Hospital to a modern mental health institute as what it is today.
Mente Infinita 2018 promoted mental health and well being by a presentation of a number of performances in streams of dance, drama and music. An Inter School Quiz Competition was also organized by Musaeus College to enhance the knowledge of the students. Visakha Vidyalaya and D. S. Senanayake College acquired to reach the finale of the Quiz Competition. Visakha Vidyalaya was able to triumph over the Senanayakians and become the winners.
Suffering from mental distress is similar to watching one's self on autopilot and having little to no control of your own self. Rather than neglecting their issues by the overrated saying of 'Get over it', it is time we help those who are in need while taking precautions of our own mental well being. Our endless minds deserve endless positivity and happiness.
