Stride to Ride 2016

Sri Lanka Unites Chapters of Ladies' College and Trinity College presented phase one of 'Sride to Ride'  on 17th of December 2016, at the Thurstan College Rugby Grounds. The charity run of two phases aims to provide bicycles to youth connected to Sri Lanka Unites reconciliation centres, who are affected with lack of transport facilities.  The run was followed by a carnival of much spectacular entertainments for the participants and outsiders. Of which the fund raising was done through the carnival sales, registrations, sponsorship and donations. The multiple reconciliation centres established by Sri Lanka Unites provides youth a variety of degrees in field such as English , I.T , entrepreneurship etc. Students are selected once 4month from affected areas for these life changing courses which mold them for the modern world.Yet a major drawback they're continuously suffering is the lack of transportation, resulting them to walk a long distance daily from their residences to the institutes. In order to guide the affected youth, the Sri Lanka Unites chapters of Ladies' Collage and Trinity Collage hopes to provide 20 bicycles in January 2017 each for the districts of Mulativu, Kalmunal and Monaragala. A single bicycle not only develops their educational opportunities but their day-to-day routines alleviating their journey to success.
