Bishop’s College retained the shield of the '13th Annual Ladies-Bishop’s Hockey encounter' for the second successive year at the Astro Turf on the 14th of October 2017.

Mrs Ruvinka Jayathileka, the hockey captain of Ladies College of the year 2003 graced the encounter as Chief Guest to watch the young blood endeavour for the victory.
The frequent visits of rain drops, could not obstruct the tensed game of Purple and Red which showcased a contending battle from it's commencement. Both teams wielding the hard work and the timeless practice, strived enthusiastically for the win giving in a strong game to the opposition.
Nothing makes the game more tight in competition than the last minute, and Shamindri Perera of Bishop’s College ventured out for a daring last minute strike which upshot in entitling Bishop’s College as the champions for a score of 1-0 . Anjali Mahikandawala's triumphant strike won Bishop’s College the victory of the Under 17 encounter as well, with equivalent effort and might.
The event which concluded with an award ceremony, appreciated the outstanding hockey players of the game by presenting special awards for both categories of Under 17 and Under 19. Most valuable player award was conferred to Anjali Mahikandawala for Under 17 and Ayindhie Alles for Under 19. Thenuki Samaranayake was presented the Best goalkeeper title for both Under 17 and Under 19. Kiara Benjamin and Nihinsa Widanpathirana were gifted the awards of 'Most defensive player' for Under 17 and Under 19 respectively.
