The annual show of Alethea School and Alethea International was staged on 9th December 2013 at the Bishop's College Auditorium. Aptly titled 'Its a Party' the show comprised song, dance and drama which had the audience spellbound.
The first half of the programme featured the nativity play with a modern touch to it. Directed by the renowned Indu Dharmasena and his talented wife Sanwada Dharmasena the play included the entire primary school. The primary choir which was an integral part of the play was trained by Nelun Perera while the primary school teachers helped in getting the dances, costumes and props ready. The Christmas story was presented beautifully with witty dialogue, beautiful solos and graceful dances amidst commendable acting by the young Aletheans. Both young and old enjoyed the play which brought to mind the true meaning of Christmas and how the birth of a very special baby heralded love, joy and peace on earth. The second half of the programme was filled with a variety of dance forms, ranging from traditional, Bollywood, Hip Hop and Latin American to the unique 'Lungi Dance' which had the audience calling out 'encore'! Janardhari Salgadu, Yogya Wijewardena, Samadhi Kudarigamage Alethea's very own dance teachers, and Upuli Panibaratha and Muddrika Swarnathilake were instrumental in the choreography of dances and training the dancers. The choir serenaded the audience with some soulful singing under the guidance of Dharshika Bandara and Pranath Fernando. When the curtains dropped down it was clear to all that it was certainly one of the best 'parties' ever thrown by students and teachers. For those who were there it was certainly a night to remember.
