On the 27th of April 2013, prepare for a magical concoction of a majestic musical tempest at the auditorium of the British School in Colombo, featuring some of Sri Lanka’s finest home grown talent. ‘Ragnarök’ (significantly known in Norse mythology as the "Fate of the Gods" or "Twilight of the Gods" respectively) promises an evening of eclectic and intense music ranging from Pure Sri Lankan Metal, Jazz, Thrash, Gospel, Pop Rock and Blues to Pure Sri Lankan Metal in a star studded and stellar line-up guaranteed to shake things up a little bit, stir your senses and unequivocally blow you away.
Music is powerful sorcery if created, calculated and unleashed properly, and perhaps it is your destiny to join in celebrating the power of live music in the name of a worthy cause. Fans and bands will share one goal; to gather in loyal masses to raise funds for the Blue Paw Trust, to help control and vaccinate the stray population and eradicate disease in Colombo.
‘Ragnarök’ is a concert with a purpose that will make our city tremble and fall down on its knees from the opening riff to the final cadence. Power… Passion… Fate intertwined, and unadulterated music to silence all else.
But it’s not just an event for music enthusiasts, it’s a summon to families and dog lovers too as ‘Ragnarök’ for the first time in Sri Lankan event history will feature a very special Dog Show by the iconic ‘Circus Uncle’ who will kick start the event at 5pm with a fantastic display of K9 talent. This man salvages strays from the streets, looks after them and trains them to perform at exclusive events around the country.
Keep your senses peeled wide and open for PUSH who are a brand-spanking new group of youngsters specializing in push skateboarding who will display their talents and raw skill at ‘Ragnarök’. These guys are the latest attraction in town and will add to the sheer festive ambience of the event.
As for the music… some of the finest talent in Sri Lanka will collaborate together to raise funds for the doggy community which is monumental in itself. Consider that the place will erupt with the smooth, soothing jazz of Shehan, setting the mood and tone for the audience so that they can swagger in Rock ‘n Roll delight at the first pumping rollercoaster that is Magician’s Toolbox (Best Band 2012 TNL Onstage), be swept away by the enigmatic and magical Hard Rock/Melodic Metal of the charismatic Shehara, the take no prisoners fury and fervency of the reputed Metal act Hollow which will perfectly compliment the sonic awe and Tech Metal genius of the amazing R.A.G.E.
A very special performance by Wild Fire will see these legends take to the stage alongside Stigmata after nearly a decade. The recently reunited Wild Fire will play their iconic repertoire with some fresh twists and turns for a new era and have music lovers going nuts by the end of their set. So all Rock ‘n Roll fans, young or wise this is an evening that will make you feel like you are 16 once more. And we all know that doesn’t happen often. Stigmata will conclude ‘Ragnarök’ promising one of their most epic performances to date; having stunned audiences at last year’s French-Spring Festival (with over a 1000 in attendance), and the Colombo Music Festival. The band has been busy slaving on their fourth album which they hope to commence recording soon. Stigmata are stoked and honored to share the stage with some uncanny and mind blowing talent and have two very special covers (rumor has it it’s a Testament and wait for it… an Elvis Presley tune) in store for their Saints and the audience. The band will perform select favorites from Hollow Dreams, Silent Chaos Serpentine and Psalms of Conscious Martyrdom and perform some of their brand new music for the first time to highlight their 13 Year Anniversary.
The event shoots off at 5pm and the music will shatter the serene and ring loud and true for a cause by 7pm. Tickets are Rs.1000 per head at the entrance but can be purchased for a special price of Rs.700/= if purchased via Tickets.lk or through the organizers/sponsors prior to the event. Buy 5 tickets and you are entitled to one complementary Ticket.
This event is brought to you by 891 (Pvt) Ltd., a very unique Integrated Advertising/Marketing Agency that specializes in select Event Management having staged and coordinated Jazz for a Cauzz 2 this year at the Park Street Mews for the Singapore Club of Sri Lanka raising funds for the Maharagama Cancer Hospital where the charity fund raiser featured a Grammy nominated Jazz ensemble; the Jeremy Moneteiro Trio featuring Claressa Monteiro on vocals. 891 have also organized and affiliated itself with the Ceylon Motorshow, the first Hemas Finance Conference, The Hightide Escape (CIM Beach Party), the Singapore Club Fashion Show and the debut Jazz for a Cauzz fund raiser and been responsible for some of the most mesmerizing concerts to date which included ‘Psycho Martyrdom’ featuring Stigmata, Dubai’s Metal Monoliths Nervecell and UK’s amazing Cyanide Serenity. So what say you? Are you ready to make some noise at the Official Apocalyptic Charity gig of the Year? Sounds crazy right?
But it’s not nearly as crazy as it will be that evening. Saturday the 27th April, 5pm to 12pm at the British School Auditorium. There’s enough talent on this bill to sink the Titanic.
So how about we all gather in festive vigor and all of us dance to the symphonies of rhyme and reason under the Twilight of the Gods?
