Tinie Tempah is almost here. In just a few days, he is set to rock the stage
at the Electric Peacock Festival on Saturday, 27th April 2013 at Waters
Edge. Tinie has achieved a great number of fetes, including: 1.3 million
copies of Disc-Overy sold worldwide, 6 million single sales, 12 major awards,
4 No.1 singles (Pass Out, Written In The Stars, Earthquake ft Tinie, R.I.P ft
Tinie). His crowning achievement was in the summer of 2012, when he was
handpicked to perform at the Closing Ceremony of the London Olympics to an
audience of over 770 million viewers worldwide.
“We are ecstatic to have such a huge credible artist headline our festival,” said Leah Bazalgette, Director of the Electric Peacock Festival, “we have been watching our Facebook fan responses as well as the media responses and are so overjoyed by how excited Sri Lanka seems to be over his upcoming performance.”
His online stats are also incredibly impressive, with over 300 million YouTube/ Vevo views, 1.5 million Twitter followers and 3.3 million Facebook Fans to date. A festival favourite, Tinie has performed on the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury in 2011, and has played every major national and international festival from SXSW to Coachella, Ibiza Rocks, Australia’s Big Day Out and Radio 1’s Big Weekender, where he found a new fan in the form of Prince William. Now, his fans can see him perform in Sri Lanka at the Electric Peacock Festival 2013.
There is so much to look forward to above and beyond the music at the Electric Peacock Festival. In keeping with their efforts every year to find an unique and beautiful location, the Electric Peacock team has chosen the Waters Edge to play host to the Festival this year. The serene waterfront, the luscious green gardens and the newly built boardwalk will help to set the ambience for the event this year.
The Festival team have been buzzing about a special Love Guru, who will be available to give festival goers some well needed advice at the event in a special chill out tent within the festival grounds.
“There are so many opportunities to win tickets to the festival,” states Tasha, “a lot of Sponsors, including TNL Radio, Lite FM, and Strepsils will be giving away tickets, and so a little advice to fans, keep a watchful eye out for these branded competitions!” The Festival Directors are enthused by the upcoming Sunday Times Magazine takeover where all the details of the event will be revealed to their eager fans.
More so, the team is very keen to encourage their festival-goers to plan their outfits in advance and ensure they try to dress up according to the theme planned for their third year. “Our theme this year is based on a famous book called ‘Where the wild things are’. We hope that all the festival goers will come dressed up in animal print or animal costumes, or just be inspired to be wild!” explained Leah. The festival pioneered the first free costume tent in 2011 and will be giving away more free costumes this year with their Costume Sponsor, Friskybox. Look out for fun takeaways and photo opportunities at their tent.
The festival organizers have revealed a number of new collaborations with new partners to introduce the emerging sub-cultures in Sri Lanka including skateboarding and breakdancing. But they are also bringing back great partnerships, like their long-term art collaboration with Sri Lanka’s premier design school, AOD International Design Campus. “The students at AOD have been working tirelessly to help us recreate our amazing theme, even going to the extent of making monster masks and recreating our theme on our stage. It is going to look incredible,” beamed Tasha.
For any fan looking to get a glimpse of the incredible artists that are going to be performing at Electric Peacock, they are being hosted by the 5 Star hotel, The Hilton, who is also the hospitality partner of the Festival.
The Directors and the team behind Electric Peacock are thrilled by the confirmation of this epic headline artist and are urging people to get their tickets early in order not to miss out on what is set to be a truly mind blowing event. “Tickets are available on Anything.lk and there are some great early bird offers,” said Leah.
