The Society of Computer Science organized Aurora 2018 - Conference on Computer Science on the 25th of September 2018 at the University of Sri Jayawardhanapura, with the participation of a number of renowned experts in the field and a large number of students who are pursuing a career in the IT field.
The Society of Computer Science organized Aurora 2018 - Conference on Computer Science on the 25th of September 2018 at the University of Sri Jayawardhanapura, with the participation of a number of renowned experts in the field and a large number of students who are pursuing a career in the IT field.
The conference focused its prime attention to Artificial Intelligence, for AI is taking over the world rapidly in a speed of light. Guest Lecture of the conference was delivered by the Secretary of Ministry of Telecommunication and Digital Infrastructure Mr. Wasantha Deshapriya and he talked about the present state and the predictable future of AI and the importance of infusing AI technology into the Sri Lankan framework in order for the country to keep in par with the ever developing world of technology.
Aurora 2018 held a panel discussion regarding the unexplored job opportunities in the Computing and Artificial Intelligence Industry. The panelists were Mr. C. D. Athuraliya the CEO and Co-Founder of ConcientAI, Dr. Sohan Dharmaraja the Chief Technical Officer and Co-Founder of oDoc, Mr. Calvin Hindle the Senior Business Analyst, MilenniumIT and finally Mr. Keshan Sodimana Co-Founder of Siyomek and Open Data as well as the former Country Engineering Consultant for Google. The panel discussion imparted a great deal of advices for the young students and reflected on the significance of creating original computing inventions in the country.
The final round of Aurora 2018 Competition for school students island-wide was held between Ananda College and D.S.Senanayake College in which D.S.Senanayake College emerged as champions.
