Beat 2016 organized by Rotaract Club of the Faculty of Management and Finance University of Colombo was held on 10th of June 2016 from 7.00pm onwards at Kulararatne Hall, Ananda College, Colombo.
An initiative executed by the incoming board of the Rotaract Club of the University of Colombo, Faculty of Management and Finance, “Beat ’16” took the stage on 10th June 2016 at Kularathna Hall, Ananda College from 7.00 pm onwards. Succeeding over 35 effective projects across all avenues spearheaded by outgoing president, Praveen Fernando and his board; President of the Club for the year 2016/17, Hiruni Perera was both inspired and determined to not fall short. Well, Beat ’16 was one remarkable evening.
Co- chairpersons, Nawangi Poholiyadde and Thilini Leeniyagolla, along with the organizing committee knew inviting the likes of Kurumba ft Dushyanth Weeraman & Devshan Perera, Daddy, La Signore and Hot Chocolate ft Tehan Perera all to one venue would indeed be the recipe for its success. The A-list artists not only brought in an enthusiastic crowd but also performed a mammoth show, masterfully delivering both the familiar crowd pleasers and new material. The line-up kept the audience on their feet, bopping their heads and singing along all night.
The funds collected from this venture would go towards one of their main community service projects for the incoming year, “Eye for an Eye”, a project aimed at combatting eye disorders. It will also fuel other activities of the club, which, if Beat ’16 was any indication, will be nothing short of absolutely amazing.
