Eye care convocation and scientific conference was held on 26th and 27th January 2019 at Bandaranayke Memorial International conference Hall and Cinnamon Lakeside respectively.
Eye care convocation and scientific conference was held on 26th and 27th January 2019 at Bandaranayke Memorial International conference Hall and Cinnamon Lakeside respectively.
On the event Dr. Diruwani Arayasingha - consultant Eye Surgeon- the president of College of Ophthalmologist Sri Lanka was the chief guest. Guest of honor consultant eye surgeon R Pararajasegaram advisor World Health organization special guest Mr. Vajira Perera- Director Tertiary and vocational education commission other guest Dr. Asela Abeydeera, representative from other optometric organizations like School of Ophthalmic Technologist, National Eye Hospital Colombo, Ceylon Council of Optometrist and Orthoptist, Sri Lanka Optometric Association, NVQ Ophthalmic Optician Association, Optical Owner association and Ceylon Eye Care Optometric Association participated the event.Event was coloured with entertainment performed by own Eye Care Institute students.
Scientific Conference was mainly focus on 'Occupational Ocular Health & Safety' Dr. Madhuwanthi Dissanayake, Consultant Eye Surgeon, Senior Lecturer did Key speaking on the topic also Dr. N Champika Amarasinghe , Director general, National institute of Occupational health and Safety address the present situation and importance of the event.
consultant Eye Surgeons Dr. Amila De Alwis, Dr Ayasmantha Peiris, Dr M Kumaradas delivered guest speaking on the sessions. Also community ophthalmologist Dr. Asela Abeydeera, Senior Orthoptist J U Seekubadu delivered their guest speaking. Scientific session as added value with veteran consultant Eye surgeon Dr. R Pararajasegaram. Scientific conference was delivered with many free papers and scientific study from Eye Care Institute students.
This year the best Optometrist award was awarded to Optom. M Lilendra Perera and the best practice award was awarded to A A Samarasinghe Optometrist.
