The Irish Boy band Boyzone has “said and done” bidding farewell live at the CR & FC grounds strumming upon the memory strings of the euphoric fans of the paradise isle of Sri Lanka spanning through 25 years, at the fabulous concert on the 16th of August 2018 as a part of their ‘25th Anniversary and Farewell Tour’.
The Colombo concert was presented by Standard Chartered Bank and DCI Events and Entertainment in association with TNL Radio and Lite87. Proud partners of the concert are Classic Travels, Hilton Colombo and Continental Insurance.
Commencing the concert with the ever cherished song “Picture of You”, the group requested the audience to sing along although they would love also “when you say nothing at all” for it felt as if they were “close to you”. Boyzone presented a performance “the words can’t describe” and glamoured the stage with a line-up of their best songs which have broken records over and over again. The crowd, fascinated by “a different beat”, did not forget to reward the boy band in return with ‘Kisses and caresses’ for they have always loved Boyzone with ‘the reason being love’.
It was a wonder that the heavens were showering with ‘shooting star’ when they took a moment to commemorate their late band mate Stephen Gately by dedicating the songs “Gave it all away” and “Everyday I love you” for him.
It was a special night for Ronan for he celebrated his wedding anniversary with his wife who was also present at the show, and it was more than a privilege for the thousands of Lankan fan that got to be a part of their amazing day. That was not all Boyzone had for the diehard fans who danced in the tropical rain to the tune that shaped their music taste since the 90’s. The band performed their new single “Because” from the new album ‘Thank you and Goodnight’ for the first time live at a concert, and the audience was enchanted by the new tune’s delight. Amidst gloomy weather, the crowd did not ‘question how the world works’ for they were in love with something beautiful, ‘So wonderful, you won't believe’ and the only thought revolving in their minds after listening to the new song, was the impatience to grab the seventh and final studio album of the Irish boy band Boyzone as soon as it releases this November.
The band concluded the concert, but the audience just could not say goodbye! Thereby the band re-entered for some more and finished off the Sri Lankan concert as a perfect farewell with the song “Life is a Rollercoaster’.
Their musical rollercoaster might be ending soon with this final tour, but they will forever be immortal in our hearts.
