The Sri Lankan internet community was also engaged in blogging along with the new developments. With the introduction of Sinhala and Tamil Unicode, the limitations the local blogging community had faced when blogging in their native language was addressed and thus, a new era of blogging evolved. The Sinhala blog sphere is a result of it. In this context we thought to encourage Sinhala bloggers to cheer up the Sinhala blogging community by praising them. After many discussions, we finally came to a decision to launch an awarding ceremony for the Sinhala bloggers. And that is “BuzzRadio Blog Awards 2012”

They celebrated our first anniversary on the 4th of July 2012 & decided to have this awarding ceremony which will be the first awarding ceremony for the bloggers in Sri Lanka.

Although there are many awarding ceremonies for various fields such as Tele Films, Music and Social work and many others, there is no such event to appreciate the bloggers. Thus this will be a great encouragement for Sinhala bloggers to ensure their steady standing in blogging. There are talented bloggers, reporters, writers, photographers and software developers among the Sri Lankan blogging community. But their contribution to the blog sphere is not recognized.
