Youth Empowerment is a project which is initiated by AIESEC Sri Lanka together
with Sri Lankan Universities to enhance the skills and knowledge of university
students and higher educational institutes inorder to strengthen the cultural
relationship and international exposure through the AIESEC internship program.
50 foreign undergraduates will be joining with AIESEC to carry out the project in each of the higher educational insititute premises.
AISEC Sri Lanka in collaboration with the Ministry of Youth and Skill Development (Sri Lanka Youth), Government of Sri Lanka and The Colombo Plan will be organizing a Youth Empowerment Project in Sri Lanka. CEAT Sri Lanka will be the official National Youth empowerment partner. The Project is for a period two months. The target group will be 1000 selected students from the Universities and other higher educational institutes and 50 international students/interns.
Duration: From January 8th to February 20th
The Youth Empowerment Project is comprised of 2 phases.
The first phase of the project will be in sessions, where 8 youth empowerment sessions will be conducted in 10 higher educational institutes. The institutes are APIIT , SLIIT , NYCS , ANC , NIBM , IIT , NSBM , IIT , BCAS , Asian aviation centre
The sessions will be conducted by the resource persons from the corporate sector and the international interns. The sessions will cover the following aspects:
Getting to Know the External Environment
Being Socially Responsible
Being a Global Citizen

Skill Development
Effective Use of Virtual Space
Project Plan for Universities
The second phase will comprised of five major events namely,
Global Village An exclusive event that facilitates interaction among foreign intern participants and more than 200 university students to create a unique blend of youth culture and global exposure symbolizing “Youth Empowerment”. Cultural interactions showcasing various customs and diversity of countries, Provide a rare opportunity for Sri Lankan undergraduate to experience different cultures, Experience international folklore, music and performances and Understanding the value of international harmony.
Leadership Development Campaign is an opportunity for undergraduates to develop their leadership skills and other soft skills. This will be one of our four main events which is mainly designed with the intention of enhancing the knowledge and the skills of the upcoming youth. This will be a full day event consisting of several interactive sessions and various games and activities where students can actively participate & develop skills which matter them the most to bring out the inner leader in them. The sessions will be conducted by the experts of some of the highly recognized government and private organizations with the participation of 50 foreign undergraduates of various countries.

The green initiative (green day) This day will be carried out in partner with the Roteract Club of University of Kelaniya and its parent Rotary club. The day will showcase various Green concept related companies and youth organizations and will also include a mini green parade.

Youth Empowerment Day This is the main event of our project which would give the opportunity for undergraduates to get to know about the employment opportunities in Sri Lanka and to plan their career based on their respective degree programs and qualifications. The highly talented facilitators mostly from the UN (United Nations) and the corporate sector will assist and advice students to build up their career. Apart from it some important topics related to youth also will be discussed with the intention of providing the students a better knowledge regarding them.

Objectives of the Project
The Youth Empowerment project aims to achieve the following objectives:
Develop the skills of the youth participating in the program
Exposure to difference cultures and learn from each other
Provide an understanding on future employment opportunities
Develop youth life skills to combat substance abuse
Networking and knowledge sharing
Opening ceremony of "YEP 2.0", a Global Community Development Project initiated by AIESEC Sri Lanka, in partnership with CEAT and Sri Lanka Youth, to enhance the skills and knowledge of young Sri Lankan undergraduates, took place at Maharagama Youth Center on 14th January 2013.

Yep 2.0 facilitated UN Day focusing youth groups who represent various state and private institutes to make a national level awareness among them about current UN operations and projects in Sri Lanka.UNFPA UNV,UNDP,ILO,IOM,UNICEF,UN Habitat were present at the occasion.
