Centering on the theme “Future Hope is in the Past’, the Senior Science Society of Visakha Vidyalaya organized the annual Science Day of the year 2019 ‘Invictus’19’. The Science Day was held on the 21st of February 2019 at the Jeramias Dias Hall from 2pm to 5pm onwards.
Centering on the theme “Future Hope is in the Past’, the Senior Science Society of Visakha Vidyalaya organized the annual Science Day of the year 2019 ‘Invictus’19’. The Science Day was held on the 21st of February 2019 at the Jeramias Dias Hall from 2pm to 5pm onwards.
The event was graced by the presence of Prof. Nilwala Kottegoda who is well-known for her service in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Sri Jayawardenepura. Her distinguish presence at the event was truly a motivation for the young scientists who are being nourished in Visakha Vidyalaya as well as within the invited schools. The Science Day concentrated on new inventions and the latest up and coming trends in science, and the students who participated from 20 schools island wide including Royal College, Ananda College, D. S Senanayake College, Mahanama College, Musaeus College etc, were fascinated by the knowledge shared at Invictus’19.
The final round of the Quiz Competition associated with the annual Science Day Invictus’19 was held during the event. Mahanama College and D.S Senanayake College topped the Quiz Competition and became the finalists after competing with over forty schools across the island. Both teams were spot on with their expertise regarding the subject and strived on par with each other. However, at the conclusion of a tough contest, D.S Senanayake College outwit Mahanama College and became the winners of Visakha Vidyalaya Invictus '19.
Invictus’19 was extremely informative and was able to give the participants a surreal experience of exploring into the wonders of the science world.
