The inaugural session of the Hill Country Model United Nations (HCMUN) Conference was held on the 30th of July 2017 at Gateway College, Kandy. The Executive Committee of Sri Lanka Model United Nations chaired the committees that were simulated during the conference. This conference saw a participation of eager young diplomats from the central hills, a mix of experienced and novice MUNers.

Diplomacy, debate, discussion, negotiation, solutions - that's the Model UN concept. And who better to bring it out than the youth? The youth are tomorrow's leaders, keeping that in mind and implementing the theme 'Engaging the Next Generation' - Sri Lanka Model United Nations (SLMUN) collaborated with Trinity College, Dharmaraja College and Gateway College, Kandy to take MUN to the heart of Sri Lanka by bringing Hill Country Model United Nations (HCMUN) to life.
