The Sri Lanka Model United Nations conducted their final main workshop in Colombo on the 19th of July at Ladies College, Colombo 07.
The day started off with tangible excitement- an emotion shared between both the executive committee and the delegates. With over 500 delegates turning up this year (an exponential increase in comparison to past years), many not only from Colombo, clearly presented the enthusiasm for conference; which is just round the corner. Many can definitely agree that the workshop was definitely excellent.

Starting off with speeches from our talented Secretary General and Under Secretary General, all the committees were described appropriately by corresponding chairs for the clear comprehension of all the delegates present. Delegates were also not afraid to ask questions, clearing their doubts in the process, and interacting with the executive committee. Delegates were then split up into separate committee rooms and assigned to temporary general assemblies, which allowed them to learn procedure by first-hand experience and in smaller groups, allowing the chairs to further guide their delegates easily and efficiently in diplomacy and debate.
Overall, with even a bake sale that garnered much attention, the workshop can certainly be declared a huge success, and the Secretariat and Executive Committee of SLMUN only hoped that the delegates were indeed able to take something home. Something that would prove worthwhile on their journey leading up to the 3 days that matter- conference.
