Colombo International Theater Festival,the one and only international theater festival raised in Sri Lanka is to be started playing on stage, from 28th march 2013 until 4th Aprill 2013. Starting with the opening ceremony at Mt. Lavinia Hotel celebrating the world Theater Day this is a journey of attracting the youth over the cause of enhancing the knowledge of Sri Lankan theater to create a significant base of audience, for the industry of theater in sri lanka.
The festival is suppose to be a continuous program where, internationally recognized performers and teams taking part and joining to enhance the quality of the project. Nations of different cultures and traditions would be performing on a common stage, sharing their talents awaking the youth.
Over 8 days the selected parties from the countries which have been invited to perform in festival's competitions, would be presenting workshops, staging dramas and would be enriching the event with proper discussions over the facts to make the objectives of the festival achieved.
If listing the nations who are performing in the event,India, Austria, Azerbaijan, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Nepal and Sri Lanka can be named. All the participants from the mentioned countries would stage their specific dramas and performances on the stages of British school in Colombo.
The workshops are to provide a foundation for the Sri Lankan youth and the fans of theater arts in Sri Lanka,to gain and enhance their levels of knowledge about the industry and make them contribute for the betterment of the theater arts. One significant feature of the festival is the presentings being modern dramas and minimum verbal productions using advanced techniques.
The Ambassordors and High Commissioners of various countries willl be the Chief Guest of the days seperatly. Also personalities and individuals who have outstanding carriers and who has contributed for the theater arts industry would be felicitated as a featuring event of the celebrations.This years feleicitations are based on those who have sacrified towards the improvement of theater provincially and those who have created acedemics to the field of Theareart.

Felicitations
The Ambassordors and High Commissioners of various countries willl be the Chief Guest on that day. Also a person who has renedered yeoman service to the theatre also will be felicitated.
